Architecture

The Temple of Athena Nike was dedicated to the goddesses Athena and Nike, who are symbols of wisdom and victory, respectively. Located on a bastion at the southwest corner of the Acropolis, its strategic position highlights its role as a guardian of the citadel and a symbol of Athenian triumph in war. Constructed in the mid-5th century BCE, it is the earliest Ionic temple on the Acropolis.
