Etruscan Arch, arch detail with inscriptions

The arch stones (voussoirs) received the carved inscription “Augusta Perusia”, the city’s new name after its reconstruction in 40-41 BCE. A second inscription above the arch reads “Colonia Vibia” and testifies to the city's status as ius coloniae, granted by Emperor Trebonianus Gallus from Perusia in the 3rd century AD.
