Triumphal Arch of Orange

The triumphal arch of Orange is distinguished from other archways of that era by its elaborate decorations, setting it apart from other predominantly minimalist sculpted structures. Its reliefs showcase the triumph of the Roman forces over the Gauls, featuring depictions of battle scenes, as well as weaponry, shields, Gaul boar standards, and carnyxes (Celtic wind instruments) of the defeated Celtic tribes. The reliefs also incorporate elements of Roman religion, showcasing ceremonial vessels and mythical creatures like Triton.
