The Portale Maggiore it is flanked by squared pilaster depicting allegories of six cardinal sins. They rest on two lion sculptures. At the top of each pilaster is a griffin holding a calf with its claws (symbol of the butcher’s guild). The door frame and in the archivolts have bas-reliefs showing everyday life scenes. The lunette consists of three statues of the city patrons, the Saints Lawrence, Herculanus, and Constantius.
