Architecture
The Franciscan monastery was founded in 1487 and goes back to an older Minorite convent from 1286. Turkish troops destroyed the monastery in 1529. It was abandoned in 1541.
In 1692 the monastery was given to the order again by Prince Jan Adam Ondrej and revived. The entrance building, which still exists today, was built on that occasion. The Church of St. Michael the Archangel, also built at this time, was destroyed after the monastery was dissolved and sold in 1807.
In 1872, an agricultural school was established in the former monastery buildings. Today they are home to a viticulture school.
