Chiesa di Santa Maria sopra Minerva [Italian]
Architecture
The Church of Santa Maria Sopra Minerva stands on the site of a Roman Minerva temple, which was built in the first century BCE and from which the temple's façade and pronaos are preserved. Johann Wolfgang von Goethe visited the site in 1786 during his Italian journey and described it as the first well-preserved ancient building he had ever seen.
